Time to start a clean slate! Sorry about the lack of posts everyone! I’ve been working crazy hours and don’t get home til 12:30-1am and then I tend to have some food and relax with my honey for a few hours before bed! Eating before bed..? Tsk tsk! I know, I know. But you gotta eat when you can!

Today I ate ALL raw food! Super proud of myself and I feel AMAZING! I bought a Hamilton Beach single serve blender today for $15 at Walmart and it works SO well! I can finally make easy, fast smoothies. You can even drink straight from the blender glass because it comes with a lid! Love, love, love it!! Looking forward to eating as much raw food as possible!

Trying to call off cheese and dairy all together. I have a problem with cheese.. I love the rich, satisfying flavor it has. But when you find out how its made, it loses its delicious sounding qualities.

I love ice cream too, but i’m going to try and find soy alternatives. I already stopped drinking milk a year or so ago.. So the only time I have it is when I have ice cream. It shouldn’t be hard to stop eating it if I could just get over my insane sweet tooth!

I’m 153 something today. Hoping to lose 20 pounds before the wedding. I’m getting my wedding dress next month and I know I’ll have to have it altered, but I have to get it before it gets too close to the wedding date.

Hope you’re all doing well! Big hugs for all of you!

I started a job shortly after my last blog post! So excited. However, i’ve used this as an excuse to eat like crap and not exercise. Today was my wake up call. Time to get back on track!! Trying to find a big, local farmers market to go to. I need to restock my fridge with tons of fruits and veggies.

I get paid Friday! Can’t wait to try new recipes. Hoping to eat mostly raw as frequently as possible. Tired of eating crap and yo-yoing with my weight lately. I hope you guys are doing much better than I have been! Big hugs.

Well, I got stuck in the “still in vacation” mode for many weeks after I got home from my vacation. I even started eating pizza and ice cream by the truck load and haven’t been exercising.. at all. Fml.

Weighed in at 153.4. Yeah. I had pizza last night too. Oh.. and ice cream. :|

Ah well. We all fall off the band wagon every once in awhile. I’m glad I feel reinvigorated today, though. I’m tired of not exercising. Its going to suck starting from the bottom and working my way back up again in terms of stamina and hard workouts, but we all have to start somewhere!

I’m getting married in June. My goal weight is 130 by June. I CAN DO THIS.

Leaving for vacation today.. 2 weeks!! I need time to relax! I’ll update when I get home. Big hugs to all of you!!

Must have Vegan items?

Question for all of you lovely tumblr vegans: What are your must have vegan staples? I’m seriously considering becoming vegan but I need to stock my fridge properly. My main concern is cheese. Gah. My fiance is convinced we can’t become vegan because we adore cheese.. But I want to prove him wrong!

I’m incredibly passionate about becoming vegan but I need a few pointers.. Help!

Hey so I saw a blog that you had blogged about you shedding of a lot of weight and was impressed so I wanted to see if you could help me, I’m trying to lose weight myself, but just can’t get passed a certain number on the scales. Also I am trying to get my immune system stronger( as I have staph disease) and had to have surgery last week so I can’t do exercise for a while now, do you have any suggestions to help me, Please??

Hi hun! Thanks so much for your message! :) I’ll try to give you some tips on things that helped me!

1.) Cut out ALL fast food and soda. This is a tough one, especially if you live near a lot of fast food establishments. I live on a street with every type of fast food you could imagine! When I first moved here I ate it at least twice a day.. Its no wonder I was 220lbs! I cut out all of the fast food and soda and lost 20 pounds really quickly. Fast food is SO bad for you. Its just empty, processed calories. When you cut it out you’ll feel so much better.

2.) Figure out how many calories you should eat a day to maintain your weight, and then create a deficit. There are plenty of calculators out there to help you with this. You should aim for a deficit of 500 calories per day to lose 1-2lbs a week. This may not sound like a lot, but its a healthy number. It also helps prevent a lot of sagging skin that you sometimes get from rapid weight loss. (I have a lot of sagging skin, unfortunately!) So lets say the calculator says you would eat 2000 calories to maintain your weight. You’ll want to subtract 500 calories to reach 1500. Eat 1500 calories a day and you should see a loss of 1-2lbs per week. You’ll want to couple this with eating good, healthy, clean foods and exercise, of course. Don’t try to starve yourself. Your body will go into starvation mode and will store all of your food away as fat to try and protect itself. Creating a healthy deficit truly is a HUGE factor in weight loss!

3.) Eat clean! This is huugggee as well. I decided to go vegetarian which helped a ton with eating clean, but if that isn’t for you, that’s okay too. Try to buy lean cuts of meat whenever possible and watch those portion sizes. Eat as many fruits and veggies and non-processed food as possible. Your body will feel stronger, healthier and your skin will glow! It sounds cheesy but its true. Small steps you can take.. Cut out sugar and replace it with stevia, replace all salad dressings and condiments with low cal, fat free versions. It really can impact your waistline if you love dipping veggies in dressing or using a bunch for a salad. I used Walden Farms Cajun Ranch (zero calorie!) for a long time and it helped me transition from full fat, high calorie ranch to a zero calorie version. Read labels and know what you’re putting into your body. I constantly read labels. It isn’t as taxing as it sounds, and its actually become a habit now.

4.) As I mentioned before, watching portions is huge! I try to eat 5-6 smaller meals throughout the day so I’m never starving throughout the day like I used to be when I’d only eat 2-3 meals a day. I space them out about 2 hours apart and they’re usually around 150-300 calories each. I honestly believe this helps keep my metabolism constantly revving and I prefer it this way. But figure out what works best for you! Everyone is different. Just try to keep the portions in control.

5.) Stay hydrated! Drink as much h20 as you can stand. Since I cut out soda, I replaced it with tea. I drink green tea constantly but I also drink flavored teas when I want to mix things up a bit. I hated drinking water when I first started my journey (odd isn’t it?) but I found that mixing lemon juice in the water made it taste fresher so it was much easier to drink. They also say drinking lemon water helps boost your metabolism, but I’m not sure if that’s a myth or not. Couldn’t hurt to try could it? :P

6.) Exercise. I know you said you aren’t able to at the moment, and that’s perfectly okay! Creating a deficit and eating clean should help anyway, so take it easy while your body heals. Once your doctor gives you the okay to begin working out, find an exercise you enjoy. Its much easier to workout when you enjoy what you’re doing. The elliptical is a great starter machine and its my personal favorite. Begin by committing to 20 minutes a day, 3x a week, and you can progress it as you go to 5x a week, and then increase the time and difficulty. I currently workout 5x a week for 30-40 minutes. I love video games, and I found it was easy to walk 40-60 minutes on a treadmill without even realizing it if I distracted myself by playing a video game at the same time. Is it high impact? Not necessarily, but its still a workout. Watching a show or movie can help pass time too. But nothing beats finding a machine that you really enjoy.

7.) Mix in a little strength training too. You don’t have to do this right away, but lean muscle does burn more calories than fat, even when your body is at rest. I just recently started going to the gym and using the strength training machines there. I don’t go crazy or anything, usually I try to use each machine for 20-30 reps. I love the sore feeling the next day! It makes me feel like I did something right. :P If you don’t have access to a gym, using barbells (or even cans of soup or gallon jugs of water) are perfectly helpful as well. There are tons of exercises you can find on google. Lunges are a favorite of many people on tumblr! (But I personally hate them. heh)

8.) Remember that you’re only human. Mistakes will happen! I’ve made a TON of mistakes on my journey and I’ve binged plenty of times.. Even weeks on end. Don’t beat yourself up over it, though. This is huge. I constantly would beat myself up over my mistakes and even cried myself to sleep a few times. But its important to forgive yourself and realize tomorrow is another day. One bad day (week, or even month) won’t ruin your entire journey, I promise. Just pick yourself up and try again tomorrow.

I hope this helps. Its all I could really think of at the moment! Hope you have a quick recovery. Big hugs!

I weighed in at 149.4 today!! Woohoo! Feels so good to be back on track. I’m really starting to appreciate my body and how much its changed. Its hard not to see myself as 220lbs when I look in the mirror, but I’m getting there!

Trust the process! Remember that the scale doesn’t tell the entire story!

Weighing myself once a week from now on and I’m doing measurements every two weeks. Updated measurements coming next week! Woot.

I think I’m getting sick! :( I woke up this morning feeling absolutely disgusting. Hoping it passes quickly..

Weekly weigh in tomorrow! I’ve been struggling in the 150’s for AGES. Hoping I can finally hit 149 again. (Hit it once.. binged too many days in a row and gained it all back. Bah!)

Trying to beat my sugar habit at the moment too. I LOVE ice cream and cookies. But I get them way too frequently. Made home made ice cream last night using just bananas and blueberries instead of going to Braum’s.. You freeze them and then blend them! So good!

Hope you’re all doing well! I’ll update again when I’m feeling better. :( Hugs.

So this is probably going to sound super lame to those of you who run on a daily basis, but today I ran my first FULL mile without stopping!! This was HUGE for me. A week or so ago I could only run two minutes (maybe 4 if I tried REALLY hard) without stopping and feeling like I was going to die.

It was tough, but I feel super proud of myself. I’m convinced these nature hikes we’ve been doing have upped my stamina big time. Granted, it took me about 13:30 at a speed of 4.4mph, but I still feel really good about it.

I was actually super stressed out and upset, and decided to take my stress out on the treadmill instead of on a carton of ice cream.. I think I made the right choice. xD
